Known from Peruvian and Brazilian Amazon.

 


Description:
Males 11-13 mm., females 12-14 mm. The skin on the dorsum is roughened with small tubercles on the flanks; the venter is smooth. The snout is truncate and the tympanum distinct. The digits lack webbing and lateral folds and terminate in small papillae; the first finger is shorter than the second, and there is a prominent tubercle on the middle of the tarsus. The dorsum is reddish tan with dark brown chevrons connected along the midline; a middorsal cream strip may be present. The sides of the head and flanks are black, the venter is gray with white spots. The iris is bronze with black flecks.

Ecology

Habitat:
terrestrial , found in terre firme forest, secondary forest and clearings.

Niche:
carnivorous: prey is mainly ants, but also any small creatures it can catch.

Life History:
This small frog is active by day amidst damp leaf litter in primary forest.

Status:
Uncommon. In the Reserva Comunal Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo area it is found in primary forest along the Quebrada Blanco, Q. Palmichal.
