Description:
Males 28-32 mm, females 32-36 mm. The skin on the dorsum has numerous small red or orange tubercles that contrast with the dull brown ground color. The smooth belly is white or pale gray with bold black mottling. The throat and chest are gray, usually with a narrow, median cream fine line; the groin is pale orange with large black spots. The body is rotund, the snout short and pointed and the tympanum is evident.

Ecology

Habitat:
terre firme forest.

Niche:
carnivorous: preys on termites.

Life History:
This nocturnal frog feeds exclusively on termites on the forest floor. Breeding occurs in ponds, where males call while floating in the water. The call consists of two parts- "doooing-wraack".

Status:
Uncommon. At the Reserva Comunal Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo, this species has been found in the upland forest along the Quebrada Blanco.
